Connie Clery

Constance (Connie) Benjamin Clery along with her husband, Howard K. Clery, Jr., changed the face of campus safety at colleges and universities across the United States, after the 1986 rape and murder of their only daughter, Jeanne, by a fellow student whom she did not know. Connie, along with her husband, founded the non-profit advocacy organization in 1987, today known as the Clery Center for Security on Campus. In 1990, their work brought them to the federal level with the passage of the Jeanne Clery Act.
